Scotland Day 8 - Inverness and Culloden
I’m really liking the weather in the highlands. Sun comes out occasionally, pretty cool temps for the middle of July. I wore pants and a sweatshirt all day and was actually chilly at one point.
Today I took a little tour of inverness. Like every town in Scotland it’s old by American standards. I heard someone mention a building was new construction, built in the 1860’s…
After looking around Inverness, it’s much smaller than Edinburgh at only 70k people, I took a bus to the site of the Battle of Culloden. Culloden was the final battler of the Jacobite rising of 1745, and the last pitched battle fought on British soil. There is a lot of history here and I plan on doing a lot of reading on it in the future.
