The Bush twins stumping for Dad

18 September 2004

It seems Jenna and Barbara Bush have learned quite a bit from their father. From a recent article: The First Daughters seemed slightly nervous, and Jenna, who spoke first, flubbed her lines a few times while reading from a prepared speech. Oops, I lost my place,? she said at one point, smiling at the audience and shrugging her shoulders. And if the audience doesn’t realize they should be applauding: At one point, Jenna paused at what was clearly meant to be an applause line during the speech. When no one clapped, she looked up, eyed a girl in the front row, and said, Clap!? The applause began, she smiled and turned to Barbara, who simply laughed. I must say, I am quite impressed with college Republicans also: Jenna and Barbara are definitely hotter than the Kerry daughters,? Steve Pfang, a St. Norbert senior and president of the schools College Republicans, said to a group of mostly male students standing near the front of the line. All nodded in agreement. I mean, if you have no other reason to vote for Bush you might as well do so because his daughters are hotter than Kerry’s. The best part of the article of the article I thought was the following: As they left the building on their way to another campaign event in Milwaukee, Jenna and Barbara ran into a group of about 40 student protesters, who were positioned near their motorcade. One girl held a sign that said DRAFT JENNA, while another held a sign that read SEND THE BUSH TWINS TO IRAQ. Send the twins to Iraq, then at least someone tied to this administration would know what serving in the military is like.

New book

14 September 2004

I finally finished Neuromancer after spending way too much time getting through it. It’s just damn hard to find time to read when you have so much other crap going on. Anyway, the book is awesome. I really like William Gibson’s writing. This is the Cyberpunk book. Though, I think the genre name could scare people off. At least from reading Neuromancer the whole “punk” think just does not really fit. Anyway, I just picked up The Crystal Shard. It’s supposed to be good and I have been meaning to read if for a while. Hopefully I can get through it quicker than Neuromancer.

That’s right, this morning I was voter number one. How does it feel to be so much less patriotic than me?

Damn cats!

31 August 2004

So, Figaro has ring worm. We got back from Sarah’s sister’s Sunday and he had a patch of nasty skin. We did some research online and it appeared to be ring worm. It also appeared that getting rid of it would be an expensive pain in the ass. Sarah took him to the vet yesterday and $180.00 later we have a tiny bottle of medicine for both cats. We also spent the rest of yesterday cleaning the house top to bottom. Damn cats.

Gaming! Yay! Gaming! Boo!

28 August 2004

First, the good news. After many years I am going to be playing Dungeons & Dragons again! I’m really quite psyched. I was told the best type of character to create for the campaign I am joining would be a wizard type. So I’ve picked up the latest Player’s Handbook and I am reading up. Again, I am quite excited Now the bad news. We’re spending the weekend at my wife’s sister’s house. That’s not the bad news. Anyway, we were playing Monopoly and I managed to land on Park place with 2 houses. $500. Damn. Next round what do I roll? Snake eyes. Boardwalk. However many houses were on it, it had a $1400 rent. I am now writing this message. Of course, since I lost I had to make popcorn first.

Real not being treated fairly by Apple

17 August 2004

Real says Apple is not being playing fair by refusing to license it’s FairPlay DRM technology. FairPlay is what keeps you from giving the music you buy from the iTunes Music Store to the masses on the internet. FairPlay is also used on Apple’s iPod. Real decided to hack FairPlay so you can put music bought from their store onto your iPod. Thus giving the millions of iPod owners reason to use their music store. The funny thing here is Real is not practicing what they preach. They won’t even let me buy music from them because I use a Mac. Assuming I were able to buy music from Real I would probably want to listen to it in iTunes, since that is my media player of choice. Nope, sorry. Can only play music you buy from Real in RealPlayer. That wonderful piece of ad-ridden shit. So what is Real really complaining about? They want a piee of Apple’s pie. Apple is doing nothing Real themselves are not doing, and would not do if they had a killer music devie like the iPod. My advice to Real would be to come back and complain when I, as a Mac user can buy music from their store and stick it into my iTunes library. Then I will tell Apple to play fair.
