Innocent mobile phone cleaner, or secret CIA spying device?

One of the faculty at work, Deborah Blum, gave me this. Apparently the CIA was recruiting at a conference she was at. It seems harmless enough. A little microfiber square to clean your phone screen with and when you are not using it just stick it to the other side of your phone for safe keeping. Could this harmless cloth contain a secret CIA bugging device to monitor all your conversations and movement? There are those who would say so I am sure.

I Made Beer (and its good!)

A little over three weeks ago I started my first home brew. I started with a kit from Wine & Hop Shop in Madison. I chose their Badger Dark Ale. With some equipment on loan from my friend Matt I was off!

Here are some pictures from the brewing process:

The beer fermented for one week, then I transferred it to a secondary fermentor. After week in the secondary fermentor I bottle it with the help of my son Jack.

It’s only been 10 days since bottling but I could not wait any longer. Last night I had my first taste. I was really nervous that the beer would not get good enough carbonation. Jack helped film me taking the first taste.

I went to the Capitol the other night and took some pictures to see what what shooting at night would be like. It’s really kind of fun. For next time I think I’ll bring a tripod though. Some of the exposures were long enough that even when propping the camera or leaning on something I ended up with blur.
Oh, and I have a photo of the giant spider living outside our living room window. Pretty sure it’s hoping to catch one of the cats in it’s web. It’s that big.

I finally took Jack fishing at Stewart Lake near Mt. Horeb, WI last Saturday. With three kids it is so easy to get caught up in the needs of all of them that you forget the individuals at times. Getting out with just Jack was something we both needed. We started the day with breakfast at Schubert’s, an old restaurant on the main drag in town.

After breakfast it was off to the lake. Stewart Lake is man made, and was drained a couple years ago so it could be cleaned and restocked. When things started out slow I was a little concerned the fish population wasn’t back yet. We ended up finding a couple nice spots and Jack was get getting bite after bite. I didn’t bring a pole and I’m glad. It was great just helping and watching him.
