We’ve had a chipmunk (or some other rodent, I’m not too sure really) living and digging a couple new holes in our yard every summer for the last few years now. It is now time for him to go. After my Man vs. Wild moment last year I have decided I’ll try to take this rodent out in some other manly way.
I’ve built a deadfall similar to what can be seen here. I don’t have a decent multi-tool and I couldn’t find very good sticks to begin with so my trap isn’t very pretty. Hopefully it will do the trick though. I set it up last night using some almonds as bait and this morning it was tripped. There was nothing there so I figured it probably went off in the night. Or something tripped it and got away. I’ve got it set again now and I’m really wishing I had a webcam in the backyard. That will have to be another project.
I was expecting the kids to be a bit more against the idea, but they are okay with it. Noah especially, she wants to perform an autopsy if we actually catch the thing. I don’t think we’ll do that.
