Appropriateness of Raiders of the Lost Arc for children

Since LEGO is coming out with Indiana Jones products my son has been clamoring to watch the movies. We were at my parents yesterday morning, borrowed their copies, and started watching Raiders of the Lost Arc before the Super Bowl. The kids must have talked their Mom into finishing it this afternoon because we just had the following iChat conversation:
Sarah: uh…indiana jones is not a kid friendly movie
Sarah:god damn it, shit…all kinds of bad words!
Sterling:well, it’s not a kids’ movie, but it’s something I think they can watch
Sarah:yeah, I just point out the bad words…maybe not the best strategy
Sterling:Except, when they go to open the Arc of the Covenant the Nazi’s faces melt, you might want warn them
Sarah:okay…
