Here’s a very good post regarding security on the Mac platform. Here’s my brief synopsis: There are no viruses for Mac OS X. Unless you were foolish enough to enable the root account you are pretty safe from hackers. The only people telling you that you need to go out buy third party anti-virus and security solutions for your Mac are the people trying to sell you third party anti-virus and security solutions for your Mac.
So stop worrying, your safe. Well, unless you have a Windows machine.
